Privacy & Terms

Last updated 17 August 2026

Driftscape is a desktop app that keeps your writing on your desktop. What follows is the long version of that sentence.

Privacy Policy

What stays on your Mac

Your notes, checklists, brain dump, journal entries, goals, habits, quests and scene settings are stored only on your own computer, in macOS's standard preferences storage. They are never uploaded, never backed up to us, and we have no way to read them. If you delete the app and its preferences, they are gone; we hold no copy.

Audio you generate and video you export are written to wherever you choose to save them, and nowhere else.

When Driftscape uses the network

The app makes network requests in exactly one situation: checking a licence key. When you activate Driftscape Pro, or when the app re-checks an existing key at launch, it sends the licence key to our verification endpoint, which passes it to our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, to confirm the key is valid.

That request carries the licence key and nothing else. It does not carry your notes, your habits, your machine's contents, or an identifier we assigned to you. If you never enter a licence key, the app makes no network requests at all.

Our verification endpoint applies a short-lived, in-memory rate limit keyed on the requesting IP address to stop automated guessing. That value lives in memory for a few minutes and is never written to a database or a log we keep.

Buying Pro

Payments are handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy, who act as merchant of record. Your name, email address and payment details are given to them, not to us. We never see or store card details. Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy governs that data.

The newsletter

If you enter your email address in the signup box, we store that address, and a note of which of our pages you submitted it from, in order to email you occasionally about Driftscape. Nothing else is collected, and the list is not sold, rented or shared. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time by replying to any message we send.

Analytics

There are none. No analytics service, no tracking pixels, no advertising networks, no cookies set by us, and no telemetry in the app. Our web hosts (Cloudflare Pages and Netlify) keep their own standard server logs for security and abuse prevention, as any web host does.

Children

Driftscape is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Because almost everything the app produces never leaves your Mac, most of your data is already entirely under your control — you can inspect, export or delete it yourself without asking us. For the two things we do hold (a newsletter subscription, and a licence record at Lemon Squeezy), you may ask for a copy or ask us to delete it. Write to 360binauralbeats@gmail.com.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update the date above and say so on the newsletter.

Terms of Use

The licence you're buying

Driftscape is free to download and use. Buying Pro grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Pro features on up to five Macs you own or control. The licence does not expire and includes future updates to Driftscape. You may not resell, sublicense, or distribute your licence key.

A key can be released from a Mac you no longer use, from Settings → License → Release this Mac, which frees the slot for another machine.

Refunds

If Driftscape Pro isn't what you expected, write to us within 30 days of purchase and we'll refund it. You don't have to justify the request. Refunds are issued through Lemon Squeezy, and the licence key is deactivated when the refund is processed.

What the app does to your computer

Driftscape draws a wallpaper behind your desktop icons and, optionally, an overlay that lets you move notes on the desktop. It does not move, rename, modify or delete any of your files. Where a feature needs a macOS permission — Calendar access, or Accessibility for the Desktop Light Network — macOS will ask you, and the feature simply stays off if you decline.

No warranty

Driftscape is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. We have tested it carefully and use it daily, but we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free on every configuration. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of Driftscape is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Acceptable use

Don't attempt to circumvent the licence check, redistribute modified copies, or use the app to break the law. We may deactivate a licence key that is being shared beyond the terms above.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. If any part of them is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
